The American Heritage Museum, located in Hudson, MA, is dedicated to military history. Exhibits examine conflicts from the Revolutionary War through 9/11 and the “War on Terror.” A good portion of the museum is focused on the sizable Littlefield collection, which includes many rare items from the U.S. and other countries. Among other artifacts, visitors to the museum will encounter aircraft, tanks, guns, and automobiles, some dating from the beginning of the 20th century.

The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire

The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire is housed in an art deco terminal and control tower building in Londonderry. The historic building was constructed as a WPA project in 1937 and was moved in 2004 to its present location on the southeast side of the Manchester Airport before being renovated. Hands-on exhibits tell the story of New Hampshire aviation history and include a flight simulator, various historical artifacts, and planes and models.

Battleship Cove is a war memorial and historic military museum located in Fall River, Massachusetts. It is home to five National Historic Landmark ships, and other craft, including the USS Massachusetts, USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., USS Lionfish, Hiddensee, and two PT boats. Their collection of aircraft includes two Bell helicopters that saw combat in the Vietnam War—the Bell UH-1 “Huey” Iroquois and the Bell AH-1 Cobra—as well as two of the first drone unmanned aerial vehicles used by the military. In addition to exhibits focused on military history, the Maritime Museum presents the history of the RMS Titanic and the famous Fall River Line.

The Mark Twain House & Museum

At the heart of the Mark Twain House & Museum, located in Hartford, CT, is the restored 25-room Victorian home where the author and his family lived from 1874 to 1891. It was here that Twain wrote “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” and “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.” Among other impressive rooms, this National Historic Landmark features a dramatic grand hall, a lush glass conservatory, a library and the billiard room, where the author wrote. Only the first floor is wheelchair accessible. One accesses the site at the Webster Bank Museum Center (fully wheelchair accessible), which is home to exhibits, a theatre showing a Ken Burns mini-documentary on Twain, a museum store and café.

The museum, a part of the Boston National Historical Park, is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard near the ship USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) at the end of Boston’s Freedom Trail. The museum provides a detailed look at the history of the ship, information about the war of 1812, and the battle between the ship and HMS Java. Stories are told through interactive exhibits, unique artifacts, archival records, and artwork. The museum also includes a research library which houses a strong collection of manuscripts, books, artifacts, and microfilm of primary source material. The ship itself is maintained by the US Navy, and may be visited free of charge on certain days.
